A client company was seeking medical device products for sale in North America. The criteria set required the products to be already successful in other markets, to have high margin potential, and to have a relatively low risk regulatory classification. Our medical device consultants developed a framework for assessing product opportunities and used their extensive network of contacts in the UK and mainland Europe to identify candidates which were then prioritised and passed on to the client to negotiate, with our support, a distribution agreement. Our consultants also advised on the market potential of the products, any likely barriers to entry, and an overall strategy of developing a portfolio of products that were a sensible technology fit and leveraged sales effort by limiting sales call-points. Our consultants were compensated partly on a success fee basis.
